10 years of Shere Village Cinema

Did you know that we have been operating for 10 years?

It all started back in 2013, when a group of villagers, inspired by their passion for film, decided to bring the Big Screen to Shere and opened a local, not-for-profit Cinema. The cinema was initially funded through the generosity of local people, businesses and grant-making bodies and operates by donating all profits to local and national charities.

Twice a month, Shere Village Hall is transformed into a cosy and comfortable village cinema, fitted with state-of-the-art equipment that provides the highest quality sound and vision for the ultimate cinema experience.

The cinema is run by a team of film fanatics who pride themselves on giving everyone an entertaining night out. Everybody is welcome, whether you live in the local community or are simply visiting the area, and visitors often come from far and wide. It’s a place where people can have a fun time watching great movies with family and friends. Or if you live alone, it’s the perfect excuse to get out of the house and meet new people. We even serve ice cream during the interval to give people the opportunity to mix and mingle!

Since our inception, Shere Village Cinema has donated over £36,000 to local charities and causes over the past 10 years 🥳 and we could not have done this without the support of our cinema-goers – BIG THANK YOU!
