Shere Village Cinema

A not-for-profit organisation, run by local volunteers, our aim is to transform Shere Village Hall into a cosy, welcoming, and well-equipped village cinema for at least two nights every month. In doing so, we hope to bring the people of Shere, Peaslake, Gomshall, Albury and the surrounding areas together for a cinema experience that is a refreshing change from the commercial town cinemas, without having to compromise on the quality. To date, we have raised over £41,000 for both local and national charities and for many local causes.

For young people, we hope it will be a fun place to meet up with friends and bridge the gap between young and old, by encouraging all generations to get involved.

The cinema will operate under certain conditions. These are:

  • To show films and other motion pictures in Shere Village Hall that are aimed to appeal to all ages – and thereby, make the experience accessible to as many people as possible.
  • To operate on a not-for-profit basis with all profit being donated to local charities and good causes, and to involve the members in deciding who the money goes to.
  • To allow the projector and cinema equipment to be used by all responsible, trained and non-profit making organisations or groups at no cost.

Please note that dogs are not allowed, with the exception of Guide and Assistance Dogs.
