Partially shot in our beautiful village of Shere, this year is the 20th anniversary of the film ‘The Holiday’!
A Christmas romantic-comedy film, where British journalist (Kate Winslet) and Hollywood trailer-director (Cameron Diaz), having both just broken up with unfaithful boyfriends, swap houses for a fortnight at Christmas.
It stars Jack Black, Jude Law and also includes an endearing performance by the 91-year-old Eli Wallach, who plays an ace screenwriter from Hollywood’s Golden Age who becomes friends with Winslet.
He teaches her about classic American movies, explains to her the meaning of cinematic terms like “meet- cute”, and laments what the film industry has become.
Choose alcoholic or non-alcoholic mulled wine with a mince pie for each ticket at checkout.
